There may be no televised political debates for the 2013 general election but both political parties will still get some much needed TV time.
Owen Estwick, chairman of the country’s Electoral and Boundaries Commission, has revealed that five broadcasts will be aired by the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) starting next week: the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP) will have three broadcasts and the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP), two.
As is traditional, the party in Government will be first out of the blocks.
The DLP’s first 15-minute political broadcast will air Tuesday, February 12, and another on Friday, February 15, with a final 30-minute address to the people on February 19, two days before the election and expected to be given by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
