After almost 2 years of inactivity, the Cassada Gardens Race Track was host to thousands who turned out to witness the return of Horse Racing on Easter Monday.President of the Antigua Turf Club (ATC) Neil Cochrane had high praise for the trainers, jockeys and horse owners for their preparation and participation in the long-awaited return to the Races.
Cochrane hailed the comeback a success and was pleased that a good showing of 18 horses took part in the races on Easter Monday.
While expressing satisfaction with the upgrades to the facility, Cochrane admits there is still some work to be done to the racing surface to ensure 100 percent consistency. He also cited an increase to seating capacity and a refurbishing of restroom facilities.
Horse racing enthusiasts were delighted at the re-opening of the Cassada Gardens Race Track and are anxiously awaiting the next event.
There were six races held on the Easter Monday Holiday and horses came from as far as Miami to participate. To the delight of patrons, veteran jockey Jeff Jacobs and the horse “The Chosen One” dominated the welcomed event.
